Our Vision
Our vision is that every child has a fair start in life.
Our Mission
We work toward this vision by providing qualified yet affordable early care and education for kids in our community.
Our Story
Archangel Academy is a preschool located in the Musanze district of northern Rwanda. Archangel was founded in 2016 by Dr. Gaspard Nzayisenga, a wildlife veterinarian employed by the nonprofit Gorilla Doctors. One day, on his way to work he noticed a young girl on the side of the road, not in school. When he asked her why she told him her parents couldn't afford the school fees. Gaspard and his wife started sponsoring the girl so she could go to school. The seed for Archangel was planted.
Today, Archangel Academy sits on a hillside property where Gaspard and his wife have invested their life savings into building a school that gives young, disadvantaged children in the community their best chance for a bright future. Children learn to read and write, and with goats, chickens, rabbits and gardens on the compound, they also learn basic science, animal husbandry and where food comes from. It also ensures they receive healthy, nutritious meals!
The total cost for one child per year is $200USD. That covers school fees, uniforms, supplies and food. Some children's families can afford the full or partial fee but many can't. Your support helps cover these costs, allowing the children to remain in school to develop fundamental skills and the potential to transform their future.
“Having grown-up in a poor neighborhood I know how it feels to live in poverty conditions with a lack of access to education. I believe early access to high-quality education gives young children the best possible start in life and it is also the best investment that anyone can make in order to break the cycle of generational poverty amongst families in Rwanda or elsewhere.”

Our Students
There are currently 26 children, ages 3 to 6 years attending Archangel Academy. The students come from loving families who want the best possible future for their children and work with the school to pay as much as they can afford. Some families pay the full annual fee of $200USD where others are only able to provide partial fees.
When a family is not able to provide any financial support, Archangel works with generous donors who sponsor the fees and, just as importantly, sponsor the parents dreams for their children.
